Judge David A. D'Apolito has lived in the Mahoning Valley for much of his life, graduating from Boardman High School and attending Youngstown State University, where he received his Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science.

He received his Juris Doctorate from The University of Akron School of Law in 1989 and was admitted to the practice of law in Ohio that same year.  He was appointed as the first Mahoning County Court Magistrate in 1997.  He was first elected to the bench in 2000 as judge of Mahoning County Court #4 (Austintown), and he was reelected to that position in 2004, 2010, and 2016, while continuing to maintain his private practice.  The Austintown County Court has some of the highest case volumes of any court in the state.

Upon taking the bench as judge of the Seventh District Court of Appeals in November 2018, he had over 29 years of experience as a lawyer and judge in courthouses across the District.  His legal career also includes time spent as a hearing officer in Boardman Township, Special Counsel for the Ohio Attorney General, and as Prosecutor for New Middletown and Ashtabula County.
